General Stuff I'll be sorry to see Kish go; he's been one of my favourite players for years.

I could never understand the amount of stick that people used to give him. All they ever did was pick on the misplaced passes and the wayward shooting but ignored all the good bits about his game, either through choice or they were blind to it.

Kish did a lot of the "dirty" work in the midfield. When you've got players such as Rommedahl, Thomas, Murphy, Ambrose and Holland in the middle you need someone to do the tackling, you can't let the oppo get to your penalty area and expect the defence to stop it time after time.

The reason that our "ball" players were able to play the way they did was because Kish would invariably have won the ball for them in the first place and be their back-up when they lost it again. Kish may not have wowed the crowd with Rufus-esque challenges, the big showy tackles that people remember, but he was prepared to get the blocks in, go in where it hurts.

As for his passing... well, people only ever saw the misplaced passes. He was a better passer of the ball than people gave him credit for. No player has a 100% completion rate (and I'm not saying Kish has been the best passer of a ball this club has ever seen) but I felt that the Bulgarian maestro was sometimes let down by his team-mates - Kish could spot a killer through ball but the likes of Lisbie weren't alive to the situation, not running into the space that had been spotted. When the ball ends up 20 yards away from the intended recipient it looks woeful but it's not always the passer's fault!

In my opinion Kish can hold his head up high and be proud of what he's done at Charlton. He was a solid right-back when he arrived at the club and then had to re-model his game to play in midfield after a serious knee injury (sustained whilst playing for Bulgaria against Northern Ireland) forced him to miss a large chunck of the following season and resulted in Curbs buying Luke Young.

I would rather have 11 Kishishevs in my side, giving 100% effort, than a load of over-paid, self-obsessed, egotistical, lazy-arsed mercenaries.

Radostin Kishishev: I salute you and thank you for everything you've done for our football club in the last seven years.
